As we begin 2025, I hope you and your families are well. Alstom JFK has had quite an eventful few months. If you work in customer service, you know exactly what I mean. I had the privilege of representing every employee at JFK when it was run by Bombardier to now Alstom. For over twenty years, I have negotiated every contract and have been involved in or arbitrated every case. While things change contractually every few years, one thing remains the same. Know your current contract language. The language negotiated is your contract with Alstom, which was mutually entered into on your behalf to improve your wages, benefits, and working conditions. With so many new employees hired today, knowing your contract is no longer optional but necessary. You can find a copy on the website here.

Next week, eight members will receive nearly six thousand dollars each ($6,000.00). The union brought a claim regarding a wage contract violation on their behalf when a customer service member notified us that her pay was incorrect. Knowing her contract and contacting her union official allowed us to correct the issue and add a penalty payment negotiated in the last contract. If you are scheduled to receive this penalty payment, you can place it in a 401 or another tax-deferred account.
