Brothers and Sisters,

Given recent developments in negotiations with Alstom, your Negotiating Committee and Executive Board believe a strike authorization vote is necessary.

A strike authorization vote does not mean a strike has been called. It is an important step that gives the membership the opportunity to authorize your elected union officers, if circumstances require, to take further action in accordance with applicable law and the collective bargaining process.

In the coming days, every member will receive additional information from this office explaining when, where, and how the strike authorization vote will take place. Those communications will also include important details about the voting process and address many common questions.

Your participation is extremely important. We appreciate your continued patience, professionalism, and support as we work to secure a fair agreement. As always, we remain committed to keeping you informed as negotiations continue.

In Solidarity,

Jeffrey A. Klein,
General Chairman IBEW Local 589
