The Car Mover Training Agreement was modified to include the operation of a remote control rail shunter. A rail shunter performs the same function as a shuttle wagon but can be controlled by remote control. All Car Mover Trainees will be trained on its use as part of their initial training. Its safe operation will be included in the Car Mover training and qualification process and will be included in the Car Mover Manual. All current qualified Car Movers holding positions will be provided with familiarization of the rail shunter prior to its usage.
As a result of our negotiations with the Carrier, the new 100% Car Mover rate will increase to $40.806214 per hour as of 1/16/18. Retroactive wages will be paid as well dating back to 11/28/17, when the hourly rate was $39.810940. The new wage should reflect in today's payroll statement with retroactive wages coming in the near future.
We have had a very difficult time with the BSC trying to get the new wages to go into effect. Any Car Movers who have not received the new rate are advised to contact our office or their local union representative.
