Message from President Jeffrey Klein
"Our lives begin to end the day we we become silent about things that matter."
Those are the words of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. King spent his life fighting injustice and dedicated it to a cause he believed in. He realized the importance of being heard and that the key to facilitating change is action.
Parallels can be made between the struggles of the civil rights movement and the adversities that workers face in this country. Much progress has been made in both areas over the years, but unfortunately some of that progress is eroding. We must work collectively to regain the ground we lost. It is up to all of us to promote change and strive to be less apathetic and more engaged. We can no longer afford to hang our hats on the accomplishments of our predecessors and sit quietly by while those accomplishments are taken away.
So let's continue what Dr. King started and honor him by living as he did. End the silence. Get involved.
